Library Databases

The databases can be accessed by using the appropriate password. If you have a problem with your password, contact the C Lab. If you have any questions in regard to passwords or searching the databases, contact Paul Burden, Library Director.

In order to log into FirstSearch contact the Library for the user name and password. In order to log into all other databases students should use your DSI number (capital D) and the YYYYMM of birth as the password. Faculty and staff should use your DSI number (with a capital D) and YYYYMM of birth as the password.

Journals and Periodicals

LexisNexis provides access to over 10,000 full-text news, business, and legal publications. Includes company dossiers for detailed company information and financial performance.  Also compares companies matching specific criteria. Provides access to Shepard's Citations® service for all federal and states court cases back to 1789. Learn how to use LexisNexis.

EBSCOhost Offers full-text access to articles in all subject areas. EBSCOhost is the primary tool we use to support student learning. Watch a training video to learn more.

First Search provides access to WorldCat, the OCLC catalog of books and other materials in libraries worldwide. First Search is provided by the Illinois State Library.  Please contact the Library for the User Name and Password.

Plunkett Research Online is the leading provider of industry sector analysis and research, industry trends and industry statistics. Note: Plunkett updates their information every Friday at 5pm CST. During that hour, the database is unavailable. SkillPort provides access to hundreds of self-paced courses in business, desktop, and IT skills, as well as health, safety, and legal compliance. Please note: This redirects you to the portal. After clicking the link, students should select Skill Port/ Complimentary Courses from the Resources & Help tab. The link is listed under Interactive Student Resources. In addition, it can still be found under the Merchandise tab. Staff should select Skill Port/Complimentary Courses from the Staff Tools tab. A video demonstration is located here.

Technology Database

IEEE Xplore provides access to some of the world's most important publications in electrical engineering, computer science and electronics published by IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers)  and its partners. n. b. Until further notice, access is limited to onsite only (we are working on providing remote access).
Once you have results from your search, click on "My Subscribed Content" in the column to the left of the page then click "Refresh Results" just below. This will limit your search to content included in DeVry University's subscription.

Britannica's Image Quest is an online image database containing two million rights-cleared images from over 50 collections, including Dorling Kindersley Images, Getty Images, the National Portrait Gallery of London, the National Geographic Society, Oxford Scientific, etc. Fully searchable.  Each photo or illustration includes the source, copyright holder, caption, and keywords, and may be downloaded, printed, saved in a "Lightbox," virtual folder, or e-mailed as a jpeg. Learn how to use Image Quest.

Oxford Art Online comprises the full text of The Dictionary of Art. Learn how to use Oxford Art Online.

Open Access Dissertations and Theses provides the full text of open access dissertations and theses free of charge. It is offered as PQDT Open by Proquest.

SciTech Connect contains over 65 years of energy-related full-text and citations. It includes technical reports, bibliographic citations, journal articles, conference papers and more.

Data and Demographics

Standard Rate & Data Service
It is a collection of data media buyers need to connect with media sellers. It began with covering newspapers, magazines and billboards, and as new media channels spring up we bring them into our database. Now includes radio, TV, direct marketing, the internet, online video, even tablets in the last two years.

Statistical Abstract of the US
Online it is 1400+ individually indexed tables (with attached spreadsheets), both searchable and browse-able. Use the Abstract as a convenient volume for statistical reference.

Statistical Abstract of the World
The Statistical Abstracts of the World is a growing collection of the statistical abstracts from many countries. These statistical abstracts are generally issued by the national statistical offices of foreign governments and contain country-level data not easily found elsewhere. Global and regional statistical compendia issued by international organizations are included.
