Library Databases

The databases can be accessed by using your DeVry student e-mail user name and password. If you have a problem with your password, contact the C Lab. If you have any questions in regard to searching the databases, contact Paul Burden, Library Director.

Magazine and Journal Databases

First Search
FirstSearch is a collection of 16 databases that is provided by the Illinois State Library. The databases cover a variety of subjects in a variety of media. FirstSearch can be searched by Keyword, Author, and Title. FirstSearch also has Advanced Searching capabilities. These databases are provided to assist the Faculty, Staff, and Students at DeVry in Tinley Park.

EBSCOhost
A collection of 13 databases covering arts & literature, business, computer sciences, education, engineering, ethnic studies, high technology, humanities, language and linguistics, medical sciences, social sciences, and vocational and career information.

ProQuest
ProQuest contains 21 databases with resource material from many newspapers throughout the country as well as information on subjects including Accounting, Business, Computer Science, Engineering, Physics, Reference, Religion and Telecommunications among others.

eBooks

netLibrary
DeVry has purchased access to 10,000 ebooks in the netLibrary collection. In order to gain access to the netLibrary, faculty, staff, and students must access the web site from a DeVry computer and create an account. Once this account is created, the netLibrary user can gain access to his/her account from any computer with Internet access. netLibrary also provides access to 4,000 works in the public domain. These public domain works can also be acquired through the Project Gutenberg site.

Safari Tech Books Online
Safari Tech Books Online gives you access to 600 titles that focus on Business, Certifications, IT, Programming and other areas of science and technology. You can browse for books, search by category or search by Author, ISBN, Publisher or Title.

Encyclopedia Databases

Encyclopedia Britannica
The Britannica allows alphabetical searching just like the print version. In addition, Britannica can be searched by subject heading. Articles also include links to related materials in the encyclopaedia. A World Atlas containing interactive maps providing information about people, land, government, history, major cities, and landmarks of the seven continents and four oceans.
