The databases can be accessed by using the apporpriate password.  If you have a problem with your password, contact the C Lab. If you have any questions in regard to passwords or searching the databases, contact Paul Burden, Library Director.

In our continuous effort to improve services and better support the needs of our Faculty and Student populations, the DeVry University Library has switched to EBSCOhost as our primary periodical provider.   ProQuest is no longer available.  EBSCOhost is also available to students, faculty, and staff via http://library.devry.edu/.   

In order to log into FirstSearch contact the Library for the user name and password.  In order to log into all other databases students should use your DSI number  (capital D)  and the YYYYMM of birth as the password.  Faculty and staff should use your DSI number  (with a capital D)  and the MMYYYY of hire as the password.

Magazine and Journal Databases

First Search is a collection of 16 databases that is provided by the Illinois State Library.  The databases cover a variety of subjects in a variety of media. FirstSearch can be searched by Keyword, Author, and Title.  FirstSearch also has Advanced Searching capabilities. These databases are provided to assist the Faculty, Staff, and Students at DeVry in Tinley Park.

EBSCOhost is a collection of databases covering arts & literature, business, computer sciences, education, engineering, ethnic studies, high technology, humanities, language and linguistics, medical sciences, nursing, social sciences, and vocational and career information.  These databases contain journals, magazines and newspaper articles to assist in your search for information

Faulkner FACCTS:  "the complete computer and communications information base.  Comprehensive coverage of the full spectrum of computer system, software, networking, and telecom technologies - including trends, vendor profiles, and product solutions.  FACCTs has all the information provided in Enterprise Communications, and more."

netLibrary
DeVry has purchased access to 10,000 ebooks in the netLibrary collection.  netLibrary also provides access to 4,000 works in the public domain.  These public domain works can also be acquired through the Project Gutenberg site.

Safari Tech Books Online gives you access to 600 titles that focus on Business, Certifications, IT, Programming and other areas of science and technology. You can browse for books, search by category or search by Author, ISBN, Publisher or Title.

Other Research Sources

Credo Reference is a collection of 100 high quality, constantly updated Reference Books, Dictionaries, Encyclopedias and Atlases, with a focus on Business, Medical and General Information Sources.

Encyclopedia Britannica allows alphabetical searching just like the print version. In addition, Britannica can be searched by subject heading. Articles also include links to related materials in the encyclopaedia. A World Atlas containing interactive maps providing information about people, land, government, history, major cities, and landmarks of the seven continents and four oceans.
